La australiana Jelena Dokic fue una de las tenistas más famosas en el mundo durante la década pasada, en una carrera llena de escándalos dentro y fuera de la cancha, alcanzando el puesto 4 del ranking mundial.

Hace algún tiempo, la ex jugadora vivió un calvario personal, producto de sus enfrentamientos con su padre Damir Dokic, que la sometió a abusos psicológicos y físicos. Por eso, subió mucho de peso y convivió con una fuerte depresión.

Sin embargo, Dokic logró superar este mal momento y luego de un duro trabajo, logró bajar 57 kilos en el último año, luego de pesar 120 a mediados de 2018. Así lo refleja a los 36 años en su cuenta de Instagram.

En una entrevista a The Sun, la australiana de raíces croatas, indicó que "todo eso no era saludable ni estaba en forma, pero lo que era más importante, era muy infeliz, sin confianza. No quería salir de la casa e incluso rechacé las oportunidades de trabajo porque era muy insegura e infeliz".

En esa línea, sentenció que "no se trata solo de perder peso, sino de tener un estilo de vida saludable y equilibrado y desarrollar hábitos saludables pero sostenibles para el resto de su vida. Espero poder inspirarlos y motivarlos a todos. No importa lo que intenten lograr, se puede hacer".

Finalmente, reconoció que "luché contra la depresión durante más de 10 años, pensé en terminar mi vida innumerables veces y casi me suicido hace poco más de 10 años. Recuerdo los momentos difíciles, pero al mismo tiempo estoy feliz".

Progress!!!💪💪 I thought I would brave the judgment,negativity and scrutiny that sometimes comes with being in the public eye and on social media and put myself and my struggles out there and hopefully inspire,motivate and help others,especially women. Transformation!!! This a 6 month progress before and after photo. Over 30 kgs lost and I am half way. My journey continues and I am very happy with what I have been able to achieve so far but there is still a lot of work to be done. I know that getting down to my optimal weight and losing the rest of the weight won’t be easy and it will get tougher from here as I get closer to my goal weight but I am extremely motivated and confident as I know I have @jennycraigausnz by my side and supporting me all the way.
